Quilts

(2016-present)

Since 2016 my partner, Whitney Gecker, and I have made quilts for babies born to friends and family. I primarily do the piecing and Whitney does the hand quilting, but we work together to conceptualize the designs. The meditative process of designing, piecing and stitching a quilt offers time to reflect on the life about to begin and our relationships with parents and their children. Each quilt is particular to the moment in time it is created- what materials we have available, what we imagine for the child, what visual ideas feel most compelling.

"Ethan" A purple and blue quilt with a pastel striped binding. The pattern is a log cabin design where interlocking stripes form squares made up of the alternating colors. This arrangement gives the visual effect of purple beads on a string with a blue background.
